On Monday 7 October 2013 Pete Loader will be delivering a lecture titled: Zealandia – A Continent 'On The Edge.'

For the people of Christchurch, New Zealand, Plate Tectonics is not just a theory but a reality that literally rocked their lives in February 2011. For a land born of earthquakes and active volcanoes, this is an inevitable consequence of life on a plate boundary and without these tectonic forces New Zealand would still be far beneath the waves of the Pacific Ocean. But, as Christchurch counts the cost, scientists are predicting that similar devastating events will happen again and possibly in your lifetime. Meanwhile the rest of the country waits and holds its breath!

Time

The lecture will start at 6.30pm, and a reception is being held in the Lower Library afterwards. We anticipate that the event will finish around 8.30pm.

Cost

The event is free of charge, but you must reserve a place in advance. Please contact [email protected]
