Structure of the Society
The Society is governed by a Council of up to 14 members, including the President, Treasurer and four Vice-Presidents. Council is chaired by the President, and meets five times each year, including one annual strategy meeting.
Presidents are elected for two years, serving one year on Council as President-Elect before assuming office. Council members are normally elected for three years and are collectively the Society’s Trustees. Elections are overseen by a Nominations Committee.
The Society’s work is carried out by the staff based in Burlington House and at its Publishing House, under the direction of the Chief Executive.
Key Meetings
On President's Day, the Society has its Annual General Meeting (AGM), when Fellows and Student Members receive reports from Officers and the Annual Accounts are presented for discussion and for it Voting Members to note.
Occasionally, for such matters as altering its Byelaws, the Society may call a Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM). More detail about AGMs and EGMs can be found in the Society's Byelaws.
Annual Summaries
The Society publishes an Annual Review each year. This contains a summary of the activities of the past year and a brief overview of the Society’s finances. The Report and Financial Statements, which include the report of the Society’s Auditors, are a separate document.
