As part of European Researcher's Night, we are pleased to offer students and their teachers a chance to virtually meet four Earth Scientists who are using their geoscience skills to build a better future. This is aimed at students of 14 to 18 years old, but students of all ages are welcome.
Sessions will occur at 12, 1, 4, and 5 GMT, and will last for approximately 30 minutes. Students will have the chance to ask questions for 20 minutes of each session, to learn how the speakers got into their field and what they do on a typical day.
Programme
12 pm, GMT: Lydia Rycroft, a geologist working on carbon capture and storage and other green energy technologies
1 pm, GMT: Ana Samperiz Vizcaino, a geologist using fossil corals to understand deep ocean temperatures and circulation in the ancient past
4 pm, GMT: Dr Leanne Melbourne, a geologist working to understand how ocean warming and acidification will affect marine ecosystem
5 pm, GMT: Hollie Fisher, an engineering geologist working on infrastructure projects
Registration
The events are free to attend for individual students and entire classes, but pre-registration is required. You can register via Eventbrite.
