Call for Nominations to serve on Council

Call to serve on Council or as President-designate

Would you consider standing for election to Council?

Are you willing to contribute to the work of the Society as a member of both Council and one or more of its committees?

Whatever your background and expertise in the geosciences, membership of Council enables you to influence the role of the Society in acting as a respected voice serving society and the geoscience profession.

The following members of Council are due to retire at the AGM in 2019:

  • Dr Jason Canning
  • Dr Naomi Jordan
  • Dr Robert Larter
  • Dr Colin North
  • Dr Sheila Peacock
  • and Mr Keith Seymour

How to Nominate

Fellows received two nomination forms with October's Geoscientist - one for candidates for Council and the other for candidates for the position of President-designate. Details of the process are on the nomination forms which are also available to download.

There is also advice to candidates which gives more information about serving on Council and guidance on what the supporting statement should contain.

As part of our commitment to ensuring a more diverse and inclusive Council, the Society particularly welcomes nominations from under-represented groups allowing Council to better reflect the community it serves.

Knowledge and experience of scholarly publishing and of fund-raising are also desirable.

Nominations must be received no later than noon on Friday, 4 January 2019
