The talk will briefly overview the importance of William Smith’s mapping in the Bath and Bristol area and its huge contribution to Engineering Geology. William Smith's unique geological maps, published over 200 years ago, helped to shape the economic and scientific development of Britain. The modern-day maps of Bath and Bristol will then be used to highlight some local engineering geological considerations.
