To celebrate Earth Science week and the Geological Society’s Year of Resources this talk will give an opportunity to look at some common everyday shopping items and the mineral resources contained in them.
As well as some of the obvious items such as table salt there are mineral resources in cosmetics, toiletries and even as additives in some food stuffs. Historically some of these were extracted in the UK and mention will be made of those industries as well as where they come from now.
Anyone is welcome.
