The Geological Society of London is the UK's national society for geoscience, providing support to over 12,000 members in the UK and overseas. Founded in 1807, we are the oldest geological society in the world.
The Nottingham Career and Industry day was held on 9 November 2016 at the British Geological Survey. Over 200 delegates attended to listen to Careers talks from the following sectors: Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Oil & Gas, Mining Geology, Contaminated Land, Geohazard Risk Assessment, Geophysics, Education and Chartership and CPD.
There was an exhibition fair with 26 organisations from industry and academia. There were also CV and Interview workshops, facilitated by Marie Burke, HR Manager at the Geological Society, and a lunchtime talk. The BGS ran a Geological Walk, a 3D visual fieldwork demonstration and a tour of the Keyworth Core Store throughout the day.
The Edinburgh Career and Industry day was held on 23 November 2016 at Our Dynamic Earth. Around 150 delegates attended presentations from the following sectors: Engineering Geology, Hydrogeology, Oil & Gas, Oil & Mining Geology, Contaminated Land, Renewables, Geohazard Risk Assessment, Education and Chartership and CPD.
There was an exhibition fair with 18 organisations from industry and academia. There were CV workshops facilitated by Sarah Innes from the University of Edinburgh Careers Service, and a lunchtime talk on ‘Marketing Yourself: Top tips for CVs and applications’.
