Climate Change and Sustainability, Impacts and Innovation in Contaminated Land

To align with the Geological Society Year of Sustainability the Contaminated Land Group (CLG) is pleased to announce they will be hosting a conference on Climate Change and Sustainability, Impacts and Innovation in Contaminated Land. The conference is set for November 2022 and is to be held in person in the Bristol area (final date and venue TBD).

The aim of the conference is to  bring together an interdisciplinary mix of presenters and a broad spectrum of perspectives on sustainability and climate change, focusing on the future stewardship of contaminated land.

Conference Themes

The broad themes of the conference include the impacts of climate change on brownfield sites, changes to drivers for contaminated land development as a result of climate change, and sustainability and resilience strategies and guidance. The conference will be split into two sessions with presentations from industry leaders, an open discussion on current industry guidance and an early careers poster competition.

  • Day 1: Impacts of climate change and sustainability/resilience strategies, with a closing discussion on sustainability guidance within the industry
  • Day 2: Focus on innovations to aid sustainability and resilience, and case studies of good practice within industry

Abstract Submission

If you would be interested in presenting a 20–25-minute talk at the conference, or a poster, please register your interest and submit a short abstract to the committee using the downloadable 'Call for abstract' form.  Please submit this to the organising committee by e-mail by including '2022 CLG Conference abstract' in the subject matter and sending to Matthew.Wright@WSP.com by 31st May 2022.
