Now in its sixth year, the Sidmouth Science Festival is a week long celebration of science, maths and engineering, aimed at all ages.
Events include talks, workshops, geowalks and hands on activities, and are free for all to attend.
Geology themed events at the festival include:
Wednesday 11 October, 2pm-4pm: Special Festival Geology Walk
A gentle stroll along the Esplanade looking at the rocks around Sidmouth and the Jurassic Coast, with Dr Roger Trend. Meet outside Sidmouth Museum.
Friday 13 October, 11am - 4pm: Fossil Friday
Sidmouth Museum will display their fossil collection, with experts on hand to answer your questions
Friday 13 October, 7.30pm: 'Ice at the Poles and Environmental Change'
A talk by glaciologist Professor Julian A Dowdeswell, exploring the nature of polar ice, the climate change we are experiencing and how these changes are likely to affect issues such as global sea level over the coming century. Venue: Cellar Bar, Kennaway House, EX10 8NG
Saturday 14 October, 11am - 5pm: Geology Bonanza
Family friendly hands on activities, displays, demonstrations, sales and short geo-talks throughout the day, at the Masonic Hall
