Earth Science Week 2017 will feature the launch of a new primary level workshop on geology, offered to schools in the area local to the Rediscovery Centre, Dublin.

Activities include: rocks and minerals identification; tectonic plates jigsaw; 'Guess-who?' a role-game to discover the tools used by geologists/palaeontologists/hydrogeologist/speleologist etc.; make your own fossil/volcano. For students in 5th- 6th class other activities are: being tasked to build an earthquake proof house and/or to design a water filtration system.

The Rediscovery Centre is an accredited Discover Centre under the Discover Primary Science and Maths initiative, with workshops linked to strands in Science, Geography, CSPE, Maths and English in the SESE and Junior Cycle curricula. Further information is at www.rediscoverycentre.ie/education/
