Now in its fifth year, the Sidmouth Science Festival is a week long celebration of science, maths and engineering, aimed at all ages.
Events include talks, workshops, geowalks and hands on activities, and are free for all to attend.
Geology themed events at the festival include:
Sunday 9 October, 7pm: 'The Birth of the Earth'
A talk by Prof Don Porcelli, University of Oxford, at Kennaway House
Wednesday 12 October, 2pm: Geology walk along the Esplanade
Meet at the Sidmouth Museum. The walk will last around two hours
Friday 14 October, 10am - 4pm: Fossil Friday
Sidmouth Museum will display their fossil collection, with experts on hand to answer your questions
Friday 14 October, 7.30pm: 'Fossil Reptiles of Devon'
A talk by Professor Mike Benton FRS, University of Bristol, at Kennaway House
Saturday 15 October, 11am - 5pm: Geology Spectacular
Family friendly hands on activities, displays, demonstrations, sales and short geo-talks throughout the day, at the Masonic Hall
