Journal of South American earth sciencesSouth American tectonics

Journal of South American earth sciences vol.87 Pages 1-258 (November 2018)
Athens login required.

This special issue contains papers derived from the 1st Symposium on South American Tectonics (Atecsud) in 2016. This symposium covered Proterozoic and Paleozoic tectonics, Mesozoic to Cenozoic tectonics and seismo- and neotectonics in South America and the analysis of its thermal regime and orogeny-scale morphology. Specific subjects include Argentina, Chile and Brazil, structural analyses, U/Pb dating of detrital zircons in different rocks to determine source areas, magnetic data for indirectly determining heat flow and gravity data for determining flexure in the continental crust, analyses of seismic lines, analogue and numerical modeling, and geochemical and neotectonic analyses.

International geology reviewJurassic and Cretaceous (Yanshannian) tectonics, magmatism and metallogenesis in South China

International geology review vol.60 no.11-14 Pages 1321-1771 (October 2018)
Athens login required.

This special issue consists of 21 papers reporting recent progress on Yanshannian tectonic evolution, magmatism and ore deposits in South China, aiming at a better understanding of Mesozoic large-scale magmatism and mineralization events.

Swiss journal of geosciencesSwissSed - past, present and future trends in Swiss sedimentology

Swiss journal of geosciences vol.111 no.3 Pages 377-578 (October 2018)
Athens login required.

The special issue is divided into Swiss sedimentology and limnology, international studies on cold- and warm- carbonate factories, and research related to the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) and International Continental Drilling Program (ICDP). These are derived from papers given at the 25th SwissSed Meeting.

Palaeogeography, palaeoclimatology, palaeoecologyEurasian Loess records: missing link to a better understanding of northern hemisphere Pleistocene climate evolution

Palaeogeography, palaeoclimatology, palaeoecology vol.509 Pages 1-182 (15 November 2018)
Athens login required.

The papers in this special issue cover a wide range of topics including evaluation of the validity of loess correlations; methodological approaches related to measurements of grain size distribution in loess; climate modelling of East Asian monsoon in the Late Eocene; analyses of modern moisture sources of the Chinese Loess Plateau; and climate and environmental dynamics during the Late Pleistocene and Holocene. The papers cover the Eurasian loess belt.

Rock mechanics and rock engineeringGeoProc2017

Rock mechanics and rock engineering vol.51 issue 10 Pages 2321-2651 (2447-2651)(August 2018)

This issue contains 8 selected papers from the 6th International Conference on Coupled Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical-Chemical Process in Geosystems (GeoProc2017) held in Paris from 5-7 July 2017.

European journal of mineralogyMinerals and materials: building principles and applications

European journal of mineralogy vol.30 no.3 Pages 411-656 (May, June 2018)
Athens login required.

This special issue contains 20 papers on mineralogy and crystallography published in honour of Giovanni Ferraris and Stefano Merlino.

New Zealand journal of geology and geophysicsTercentenary of the 1717 great Alpine Fault earthquake: advances in science and understanding hazards

New Zealand journal of geology and geophysics vol.61 no.3 Pages 247-411 (September 2018)
Athens login required.

This volume presents papers from a range of disciplines including tectonics, seismology, paleoseismology, landscape evolution and social science. The collection provides an insight into the range of research currently being undertaken on the Alpine Fault. Although stimulated by the tercentenary of the last great Alpine Fault earthquake, this volume has a broader theme of advances in science and understanding hazards of the Alpine Fault.

Sedimentary geologyAnalysis of sediment properties: tools for palaeo-environmental reconstruction

Sedimentary geology vol.375 Pages 1-308 (1 November 2018)
Athens login required.

This special issue is on methodological aspects of sedimentary provenance analysis and their application for palaeo-environmental reconstruction of Quaternary systems. Papers have been grouped into methodological contributions; Quaternary systems as natural laboratories; and deep-time studies.

Journal of African earth sciencesPrecambrian geology of Egypt: stratigraphy, geodynamics, and mineral resources

Journal of African earth sciences vol.146 Pages 1-216 (October 2018)
Athens login required.

This special issue contains a biography of Professor Mahmoud Fawzy El Ramly. This is followed by 13 papers dealing with tectonic evolution, structure, geochemistry, mineralization, Phanerozoic volcanic activity, remote sensing, and the environment.

Bulletin of engineering geology and the environmentMarine engineering geology

Bulletin of engineering geology and the environment vol.77 no.3 Pages 893-1143 (August 2018)
