The Early Career Network (ECN) aims to provide support and guidance for professionals across all disciplines of geoscience, recognising the varied needs of geologists working in different sectors. Whilst principally aimed at those who are within the first 10 years of their geoscientific careers, the network is open to anyone who is interested in its activities.
The ECN was established in 2018 and operates as a sub-group of the Geological Society. It aims to collaborate with the Society's specialist and regional groups, as well as external companies other professional societies, to provide value for its members.
The ECN focuses on providing early career professionals with a range of opportunities for networking, mentoring, continual professional development and personal upskilling. The Network is also an advocate for the Society’s Chartership scheme and aims to support its members towards professional accreditation.

The ECN Committee meets on an ad-hoc basis in order to achieve its goals and progress its various initiatives. The group also aims to be accountable for and open about its activities and therefore looks to publish all relevant committee meeting minutes and yearly AGM presentations for review.
