To apply for membership of the Geological Society, please complete and return the application form below. All forms are in PDF format and must be printed out and posted to us.
What grade of membership is suitable for me?
Junior Candidate Fellowship is suitable for those aged 16-18 in secondary education and able to provide satisfactory evidence of their intent to take a degree in geology or a related subject.
Candidate Fellowship is suitable for those who are currently registered for an undergraduate honours degree in geology or a related subject.
Fellowship is aimed at those with a degree or equivalent qualification in geology or a related subject, or with relevant experience in geology or a related subject.

All Fellows of the Society, including Candidate Fellows, must abide by the Society’s code of conduct. When you sign the application form, you will be promising to abide by the code if elected. Fellows will also need to agree to the terms and conditions for the access and use of electronic services.

Timetable for membership applications
Membership applications are usually processed within two weeks, following which an email confirmation is sent to the applicant. It is required that all members (Fellows/Candidate Fellows and Junior Candidate Fellows) are elected by Council, which meet five times during the year. However applicants may access member benefits from the date the application is processed. The following table lists closing dates for applications to be received and processed and the corresponding election dates:
