The Virtual Library aims to enhance access to information resources for the geological community by providing an access point for internet resources selected by the Library staff.
Offsite access to full text from 20 e-books on the Dawsonera platform is now available to Fellows of the Society. These books are on a variety of different subjects including sedimentary basins, stratigraphy, hydrogeology, tectonics, and engineering geology. In addition, there is also a palaeontology e-book from JSTOR.
Athens login needed for offsite access to these e-books.
New Offsite E-journal Access
Offsite online access to Nature Geoscience from vol.4(2011) onwards is now available to Fellows of the Society using an Athens login. This sister journal to Nature is a monthly multi-disciplinary journal aimed at bringing together top-quality research across the entire spectrum of the Earth Sciences along with relevant work in related areas. The journal's content reflects all the disciplines within the geosciences, encompassing field work, modelling and theoretical studies.
In addition to publishing primary research, it provides an overview of the most important developments in the Earth Sciences through the publication of Review Articles, News and Views, Research Highlights, Commentaries and reviews of relevant books and arts events.
International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering
Offsite online access to all issues of International Journal of Geosynthetics and Ground Engineering is now available to Fellows of the Society using an Athens login. This is a new journal presenting research on all aspects of geosynthetics and their applications, and a variety of ground improvement techniques to reinforce and densify grounds, soils and rocks. It aims to provide rigorously refereed, original and innovative papers across the journal subject fields applied to traditional civil engineering: geotechnical, geoenvironmental, environmental, transportation, and hydraulic engineering, mining engineering, agriculture, aquaculture, and waste management. The journal focuses on the needs of developing economies especially with regard to the environmental sustainability aspects of ground improvement and geosynthetics.
