Fellows of the Geological Society of London enjoy a range of access benefits and additional options by virtue of their membership of the Society such as:
All Fellows are entitled to full online access to one Society journal option as part of their package of member benefits.
There are three journal options to choose from:
- Journal of the Geological Society (JGS, 1971 to present; QJGS, 1845 to 1970) and Quarterly Journal of Engineering Geology and Hydrogeology (QJEGH)
- Geochemistry: Exploration, Environment, Analysis (GEEA)
- Petroleum Geoscience (PG)
Additionally, all Fellows receive free online access to the Transactions of the Geological Society of London

Please note: The Proceedings of the Yorkshire Geological Society, the Scottish Journal of Geology and the Journal of Micropalaeontology are not Geological Society journals. Fellows can access content of the relevant journal by using Pay-per-view Access, purchasing a non-member subscription or by joining YGS for the Proceedings, GSG or EGS for the Scottish Journal (and Transactions of the Edinburgh or Glasgow geological societies) or TMS for the Journal of Micropalaeontology. Once you have joined another membership organisation you will be provided with a separate username and password to access the relevant content.

Special Publications and books
In addition to their journal entitlement, Fellows receive free access to the Society’s online "Book Archive".
The Book Archive gives Fellows access to GSL books on the Lyell Collection (Special Publications, Memoirs and Engineering Geology Special Publications) published prior to the current and three previous calendar years without restriction - and all references are actively linked through to the source of cited material. For 2017 Fellows can access book content published in 2013 and earlier.
Fellows also receive access to volumes 4, 5, 6 and 7 of the Petroleum Geology Conference Series.
Full Book Collection
Fellows can subscribe to the Full Book Collection for a modest annual fee, which extends electronic access to recent GSL Lyell Collection book content (including Special Publication Online First articles) from the date of publication. Please see the membership fees page for current rates

Please note: The Petroleum Geology Conference series content (including Online First articles) is not included in a Full Book Collection subscription as this series is published on behalf of PGC Ltd. As new PGC titles are published the content will become available to all fellows on a date decided by PGC Ltd and GSL. GSL members will be able to access PGC8 content from October 2018.
No journal content is included with a Full Book Collection subscription.
To access Special Publication Online First articles Fellows must have a subscription to the Full Book Collection. A current subscription allows access to the full text of each article as well as the online version of the complete volume once published.
Non-subscribing Fellows may view the list of Online First articles available, sign up for email alerts when new articles are posted, and purchase individual articles on a pay-per-view basis.
Fellows requiring access to content to which they do not subscribe can access articles by selecting the pay-per-view option, which is available for all Lyell Collection content.

The Geological Society publishes Open Access articles which are free to all and are designated by an Open Access logo.
The Open Access Article Processing Charge can be found on the Author Information page of the relevant journal or book series. A discount is available to Fellows of the Geological Society for GSL-owned journals (where the first author or at least half the authors are Fellows).
