Supplementary Data
Information on Supplementary data related to papers in Geological Society of London books and journals
Limited space in the paper publications means that detailed material, such as locality lists and analytical data, will be made available as online Supplementary Publications.
These files are are hosted on the Society's website. Acceptable formats for the online repository are .rtf, .csv and .pdf. Authors are encouraged to provide analytical data in comma delimited format to allow reanalysis. Maximum size is 5MB per paper. Please provide these files with the final version of your paper.
Papers for publication in 2008:
The parent paper should refer to the supplementary material thus: " . . . is available online at http://www.geolsoc.org.uk/SUP00000." The number will be allocated by the Staff/Production Editor.
The Supplementary Publication should ideally be referred to only once. If it contains more than one element, it might be necessary to include further citations in the form ‘is included in the Supplementary Publication, see p. X’. It is also acceptable to refer to them in more than one figure caption or table if the figures/tables are based on the supplementary data. Individual tables or figures within the Supplementary Publication should not be referred to – not everyone will have it and it is not helpful. If numerous citations to the Supplementary Publication are needed, it is not supplementary!
Papers for publication in 2009 or beyond:
Please include a statement between the abstract and the start of the main text in the form:

A print out can be obtained from the Society’s Library for a fee. Older Supplementary Publications are also available from the British Library (details are printed in the parent paper).
