Event details

Southeast England is a water-stressed region, heavily reliant on groundwater for public water supply. This talk will explore the geological makeup of the major aquifers in the region, current groundwater resources, and the potential challenges to sustainable groundwater management posed by factors like population growth and climate change. The presentation will also explore the critical role groundwater plays in supporting the unique chalk stream habitats of the area.

This is a joint event with Horsham Geological Field Club.

Speaker

Simon Cook is a hydrogeologist with nearly 20 years of experience working on a range of groundwater-related issues, including water resource management, groundwater contamination and water quality, and the environmental impacts of abstraction.
