Energy Group
At the forefront of energy geoscience...
The Energy Group of the Geological Society promotes geoscience scholarship and professional activities associated with the diversification of energies and waste disposal required by the energy transition. It was formed in 2020 as the successor to the Petroleum Group, which had been a Special Interest Group of the Geological Society since 1981.
The Energy Group will encompass all geoscience aspects of the full cycle of the delivery of energy to society, including applications to:
- Carbon capture, utilisation and storage
- Oil and Gas
- Radioactive waste disposal
- Geological energy storage
- Geothermal energy
- Hydrogen
