Exploring New Frontiers in Exploration, Development and Subsurface Storage

Triassic and Jurassic plays remain at the forefront of exploration, field development and emerging subsurface storage opportunities across Northwest Europe. Renewed exploration and development activity on the UK and Norwegian continental shelves, together with insights from East Greenland's Triassic and Jurassic successions and the wider North Atlantic margins, are opening new perspectives on established petroleum systems and revealing opportunities for future resource development.

This two-day technical conference will bring together industry and academia to present new discoveries, exploration and development case studies, advances in stratigraphy and reservoir characterisation, and innovative approaches to understanding reservoir connectivity, seal integrity and basin evolution. Particular emphasis will be placed on integrating new data, geological analogues and emerging technologies to reduce subsurface uncertainty, improve operational performance and assess the potential of Triassic and Jurassic systems for energy production and long-term storage.

Key Technical Themes

  • Exploration and Field Development: New discoveries, emerging plays, appraisal and development opportunities

  • Regional Geology and Analogues: East Greenland, North Atlantic margins, provenance and basin evolution

  • Stratigraphy and Depositional Systems: Correlation, sequence stratigraphy and integrated stratigraphic approaches

  • Reservoir Characterisation: Reservoir quality, diagenesis, heterogeneity and connectivity

  • Seals and Containment: Seal capacity, integrity, compartmentalisation and containment risk

  • Energy Transition and Subsurface Storage: CCS, hydrogen storage, geothermal energy and geological disposal of radioactive waste

  • Drilling and Operational Challenges: HPHT, geomechanics, well delivery and formation evaluation

  • Digitalisation and Emerging Technologies: AI, integrated subsurface modelling and innovative analytical techniques

Call for Abstracts

We invite contributions from industry, academia and research organisations presenting new datasets, technical advances, regional studies and practical case histories relevant to Triassic and Jurassic systems in Northwest Europe. International case studies demonstrating transferable geological concepts or innovative technologies are also welcome.

Abstract Submission Deadline: 15th December 2026
