The Western Regional Group is pleased to welcome Dr Benoît Jones of BEMO Tunnelling UK who will talk about ground behaviour during tunnel excavation in soft ground. Benoît will use case studies to show how the in situ stresses and pore pressures are altered by an advancing tunnel, and how this affects ground movements and lining stresses in the short and long term. By using a range of surface and subsurface instrumentation and monitoring methods, we can obtain a conceptual model of ground behaviour, depending on ground type and construction method.
This is a hybrid event with the option to attend either in-person or online via Zoom. Click on the Book Now button above to access the Zoom link. Non-members are also welcome.
