Tectonic interpretations, past and present, are essential for the understanding and management of the Earth and it is the aim of this conference to summarise the current state of the art in this field.
Individual sessions will assess the processes involved with ophiolites, arcs, collision, plutonism, Precambrian tectonics, metamorphism, plate kinematics, continental margin formation, structural analysis, and the histories of various orogens around the world. In addition, a considered amount of time will be devoted to group discussion of questions and the cross - fertilisation of ideas from the assembled talent in the various sessions.
-
Present an overview of the latest developments in Structural geology and Tectonics
- Assemble leading experts to debate these developments and pass the knowledge on to a younger generation
-
Recognise and celebrate the career contribution of an exceptional geologist
John Casey, Professor, University of Houston,
Jeff Karson, Professor Emeritus, Syracuse University
Jim Pindell, FGS, Director, Tectonic Analysis Limited, Stoughton, UK, also Adjunct Professor, Rice University
Paul Ryan, FGS, Emeritus Professor of Geology, University of Galway
