Want to get involved in climate action and make a difference within the education sector? Are you keen to develop your passion for environmental sustainability, climate leadership skills and make a genuine difference to your community?
The Geological Society is delighted to be working in collaboration with the Climate Ambassadors to offer our own Getting Started as a Climate Ambassador training.
What is a Climate Ambassador?
Climate Ambassadors are trained volunteers offering free support to nurseries, schools and colleges in England to develop and progress impactful climate action plans covering adaptation, decarbonisation, climate education / green careers and biodiversity. Their work may be with Senior Leadership to look at planning and systems change; it may be offering technical expertise to the Facilities Manager about flood risk management; or maybe talking to students about career pathways, for example.
What does the training involve?
The programme supports volunteers with high-quality training, resources and networking opportunities. Registration and training takes half a day and our expectation is that Climate Ambassadors volunteer for one day per year as a minimum.
What are the benefits?
For individuals and businesses, this represents a unique opportunity to engage in impactful, skill-based volunteering. Participating in the Climate Ambassadors programme not only supports the next generation of environmental leaders but also demonstrates a commitment to staff development, social value and sustainability.
