Before you apply for Chartership

Criteria and procedure validation

If you do not hold a Master's level degree, you must submit a 'Master's Level Equivalence Report' (MLER) which can be found in 'other routes to Chartership' below.

What to include in your application

For Fellows going the standard route to Chartership, you will need to include a professional report detailing your professional development with focus on the relevant Chartership competency criteria being applied for.

20+ years' professional experience route

The Society recognises that Fellows with more than 20 years of professional experience may find it more difficult to produce detailed documentary evidence of their early professional work.

That's why there is a '20+ years' route to Chartership which includes different documentation to make it easier for you to complete your application. Instead of a professional report, you can fill out a 'career account'.

Master's level equivalence

If you do not hold a Master's level degree, you must submit a 'Master's Level Equivalence Report' (MLER).

Logging CPD (Continuing Professional Development)

You are now able to log your CPD online on the updated MyGSL. Whilst this experience is being improved, we have put together a template logbook which you can download and use to track your CPD.

A record of CPD activities for at least the last three years must be included with your application in the CPD section of the application.

You can find guidance about CPD, CPD logging, your CPD diary and more in the left hand column of MyGSL titled 'MyCPD".
