Email Anna at: anna.morley@arup.com
As Chair of the Engineering Geology Group of the Geological Society, Anna is passionate about promoting industry connectivity, best practice and research-driven improvements for the EG community. Her technical background is ground engineering. She has a strong academic foundation and extensive applied experience. Anna works at the intersection of resilience, sustainability, and engineering, helping clients manage risk and unlock value in large-scale infrastructure and resource projects. Her work is driven by a commitment to reduce the extent to which we exceed planetary limits and she strives to embed the UN SDGs at every scale—turning impact mitigation into system-wide value. Anna has extensive international experience across sub-Saharan Africa, Hong Kong, UK, Europe, and the Middle East, adapting to diverse contexts from emerging economies to developed markets. Working for Arup, she leads multidisciplinary projects for clients ranging from private developers and energy and resource majors to development banks, governments, UN agencies and NGOs. Outside of work she likes to be out-of-doors and enjoy hobbies like running, walking and skiing.

Email Sara at: Sara.Castillo-Rubio@mottmac.com
As Secretary of the Engineering Geology Group, Sara is keen to support the Group’s activities, strengthen engagement with members, and help raise the profile of engineering geology within the Geological Society and the wider industry. She is a Chartered Geologist (CGeol) and Fellow of the Geological Society of London, with over 20 years of experience in engineering geology and geotechnical monitoring across the UK, Spain, and Turkey. Sara currently works as a Senior Engineering Geologist at Mott MacDonald, where she supports and coordinates multidisciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects including HS2, as well as rail, tunnelling, energy, reservoir, and urban regeneration schemes. She particularly enjoys working collaboratively, sharing knowledge, and mentoring early-career geologists, and is passionate about promoting good practice and professional development within the engineering geology community. Outside of work, Sara enjoys pottery and woodworking, and spending time outdoors on long walks.
