The Hong Kong Regional Group collaborated with the Hong Kong UNESCO Global Geopark and the Geological Society of Hong Kong to organise a series of public lectures focused on the science of geohazards in the local region.
Between June and October, seven lectures were delivered, covering topics such as earthquakes and tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, landslide hazards, engineering design, and risk management. These sessions featured distinguished academics and experts from both Hong Kong and Japan. The lecture series attracted strong participation, averaging approximately 50 attendees per session and reaching a peak attendance of 124. In addition to the presentations, audience engagement during the Q&A sessions was notable, reflecting a high level of interest in the subject matter.
