Dipmeter and borehole image evaluations revolutionized subsurface characterization from the earliest devices invented to delineate bed attitude 90 years ago. Progressive technological advancements now permit detailed studies concerning sedimentology and stratigraphy, structure, and geomechanics in downhole settings probed by traditional O&G exploration and development, carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS), geothermal energy, mining, waste containment, and engineering programs.
Despite the utility of borehole image evaluations, nearly 25 years have passed since analysts gathered in a dedicated session to explore developments in tool technologies, quality-control methodologies, and subsurface applications with the purpose of documenting and consolidating the current state of knowledge. Likewise, few discussions have focused on adopting borehole images in logging programs outside of traditional markets.
The meeting aims to use oral, poster and keynote presentations to do the following:
- Promote collaboration by assembling a multi-disciplinary group of subject matter experts, geologists, geophysicists, petrophysicists, and engineers across multiple industries
- Discuss advancements in borehole imaging physics, technologies, quality control, and the increasing role of AI
- Share integrated evaluation techniques in traditional O&G, emerging CCUS, Geothermal, and Engineering projects
