The Western Regional Group is pleased to welcome Ed Taylor, Senior Engineer at Sweco, who will discuss some of the geotechnical challenges, and their solutions on the M2 Junction 5 Improvements project.

Edward’s presentation provides and overview on the M2 Junction 5 Improvement Scheme, a junction upgrade scheme with aims to enhance journey times, reliability, and safety of the strategically important road network.  The scheme presents a unique set of geotechnical challenges, including managing variable ground conditions and ensuring stability in compressible deposits and weathered chalk. The project involves constructing a flyover, reinforced soil walls, major earthworks, and several bridges while ensuring sustainable design practices.

The online room opens at 6.15pm with the event starting at 6.30pm

Edward Taylor is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer based in Sweco’s London office. He holds an MSc in Engineering Geology and a BSc Hons in Geological Sciences from the University of Leeds. Edward joined Sweco in 2019 and has since been involved in several major infrastructure projects, including the M25 Junction 28 Improvements and M2 Junction 5 Improvements for National Highways, as well as smaller projects across the UK.

This event is free to attend.
