Exploration geology covers the start of mining process. The Exploration geologist looks for targets that might be economic, covering large areas of land in an attempt to focus in on the areas of interest. This often means going to places off the beaten track. The basic methods of exploration have not changed but the tools and the structure have. Mark discusses exploration from a historical, present day and future perspective. Mark looks at the changes in outlook towards exploration, and the growth of the investor.

Mark Davis is an independent consulting geologist who has worked extensively in Africa. Projects have also been completed in North America, Europe and the Indian Subcontinent. Mark has been based in five countries. During his career Mark has worked for major mining companies as well as a range of consulting firms looking at products ranging from Oil & Gas through to industrial materials, base metals, precious metals and diamonds. Presently Mark is looking at a nickel laterite project in Oman as a Board Advisor.
