In the itineraries of this guide there are some locations where the exposures are still capable of various explanations. Several need the benefit of thought, weigh­ing up alternative hypotheses. Even after more than 40 years field experience I do not know the answer to many of the questions posed. However, I like to think that this dilemma is both healthy and encouraging. Geology is never a closed book.
