This volume presents the results of a study of carbonate and clastic rocks in cores collected along a transect ranging from hydrocarbon source rocks in Kansas and eastern Colorado to coal-bearing units in western Colorado and Utah. Objectives covered include: the timing of sea-level change, subsidence, and facies change; controls on the accumulation, burial, and diagenesis of organic matter, calibrating of depositional cycles; and determining the paleogeography, paleoclimatology, and paleoceanography.
