In the production as opposed to the exploration arena, biostratigraphic and related techniques are used to address reservoir-scale problems such as detailed correlation, interpretation of depositional environment, geometry, connectivity and compartmentalisation, and reserves estimation and optimisation of recovery. This book records recent advances that biostratigraphy has made in production and development geology. It serves to illustrate to non-biostratigraphers the potential applicability of biostratigraphy in this area, and to encourage biostratigraphers to further explore and evaluate this potential.
