Biography:

Eric Warr Simmons was born on 6 April 1893 and educated at Whitgift Grammar School, Croydon, before entering University College London in 1911, where he obtained the Morris Prize and the University Scholarship in Geology in 1913. He graduated in 1914 with first-class honours in Geology and Palaeontology, and afterwards acted as Demonstrator in that subject. 

Warr was elected as Fellow of the Society in 1915, later that year he went out to Gallipoli. He was posted 'missing' after the landing at Suvla Bay on 10 August 1915.
