SPEAKER

Dr Matthew Genge, Royal School of Mines, Imperial College London

During the pandemic, geology students have been unable to go into the field to learn practical skills. To teach students, universities have developed virtual fieldtrips. Some of these courses have consisted of photographs, maps and videos, whilst those developed at Imperial by the speaker are fully-fledged geology computer games.

In his presentation, our speaker will talk about how rocks can be captured digitally and will try to answer the question "Will virtual fieldtrips ever replace their outdoors equivalents?".
