The NW Highlands Geopark stretches from Coigach to Tongue, and features 5 of the 51 best places to see Scotland's geology. The geopark will be holding four events leading up to and during Earth Science Week, celebrating the area's unique geological heritage.
Geology for Climbers
An evening talk as part of the Reiff Climbing Festival. This is an open event for all that have an interest in Deep Time. This year Pete Harrison, Geopark Geologist will tell the Story of the 1200 million year old Torridonian Sandstone, including a major meteorite strike and what the environment was like at the time

A Geowalk to Badentarbet and Achlochan
See some of the rocks around Coigach from the Friday evening talk. Following a quick look at the rocks at Badentarbet (Coigach Geotrail stops 58 - 59) we will park at the Community Hall and walk down to Achlochan (trail stops 24- 29).

Guided Tours: the Rock Stop Geocentre, Unapool
Guided tours on the hour from 12 to 3pm of the exhibition at the Rock Stop Geocentre, Unapool. Featuring a new time machine, an interactive sandbox, interpretation panels and a specimen collection. See the material ejected by a meteorite impact 1200 million years ago and the oldest fossils and rocks in the UK.

Field trip to Loch Eriboll
Come and see some of the rocks caught up in a major mountain building episode and which caused a national controversy at the end of the 19th century. We will start at Kempie Bay on the eastern shore of Loch Eriboll and then work our way north by car, including a walk out to Heliam and the lighthouse north of Port an Altain.
