Join scientists from Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum Wales and Cardiff University for a day of interactive family fun to celebrate Earth Science Week and Biology Week.
Displays and activities will be scattered throughout the ground floor of National Museum Cardiff, so visitors will come across lots of new and exciting things as they move through our Main Hall and explore the natural history galleries. There will be the opportunity to see some of the millions of objects from our collections behind-the-scenes that are not normally on display, and to meet museum and university experts
Geological wonders on offer include:
- Glowing minerals and fabulous fossils
- Make your own explosive volcano
- See how your footprings compare with those made by dinosaurs
- Play our fun game to discover what it takes to become a fossil
- Cast your own fossil to take home with you
- Look out for our newest arrival in the Evolution of Wales gallery, a life-size model of the new Welsh dinosaur Dracoraptor!
- Pick up a stamping sheet and collect ten stamps during your visit to win a prize.
Target audience
This event is suitable for all ages, with lots of hands-on activities suitable for families with younger children.
