The British Geophysical Association (BGA) Postgraduate Research in Progress (PGRiP) meeting is an annual gathering of geophysics PhD students.

PGRiP is organised by students, for students. We offer an opportunity to network and discuss your latest work with your peers in a friendly environment. Whether you are presenting a poster, giving your first talk, or practising for larger conferences, everyone is welcome!

There will also be a variety of virtual social events to break up the talks and poster sessions, and a few keynote speakers, including the BGA's Bullerwell Lecturers: Dr Rebecca Bell (2020) and Dr Lesleis Nagy (2021).

Dates and Timings:

Monday 13th September - Evening - Social Event

Tuesday 14th / Wednesday 15th / Thursday 16th September - Afternoons - Presentations/Poster Sessions/Networking/Keynote Speakers/Socials

A schedule of the event will be available closer to the time.

Registration fees:

Register to attend via the BGA website

Regular Attendee - £10

Student Attendee - £5

These fees will go towards paying for licenses to the online platforms, providing social activities, etc.

Virtual Platforms:

Zoom will be used for the keynote and student presentations

Gather.Town will be used for the poster sessions, networking sessions and social events

Slack will be used to upload posters and presentations to so attendees can comment and ask questions

Session Types:

You can either give a 10 minute presentation with 5 minutes of questions

Provide a poster with a live eLightning (2 minute) intro and a jpeg/png that will be uploaded onto Gather.Town

Prizes:

There will be a winner and runner-up prize from BGA for the best presentations and posters!
