Event details

Movements on the Earth’s surface can now be routinely measured, with millimetric precision, on a day to week timescale. However, when everything is moving it is crucial to separate signals from the noise to work out which signals indicate risk. In this presentation, Dr Jennifer Scoular will explore several applications of InSAR data for geotechnical risk covering slope stability, insurance disputes from groundwater extraction and how to develop a proactive maintenance strategy with new insights from InSAR.

Speaker

Dr Jennifer Scoular DIC ARSM FGS

Jenny is part of the Technical Services team at SkyGeo and works with customers to configure project-specific remote sensing solutions based on a strong understanding of their geotechnical concerns and monitoring requirements. She is a geologist by background, with an MSci Geology degree from the Royal School of Mines and a PhD in applied InSAR for geotechnical hazards from the Civil Engineering department at Imperial College London. She is an author on the CIRIA guidelines 'Earth observation and InSAR technology for civil infrastructure', as well as the Training and Outreach officer for the Geological Remote Sensing Group.
