Teachers and STEM Ambassadors Networking Evening
Event type:
Workshop, Evening meeting
Organised by:
Geological Society Events
Venue:
The Geological Society, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London
Event status:
EVENT CLOSED
The Geological Society together with STEM Learning are running a free networking evening for teachers and STEM Ambassadors.
Understanding geological concepts is essential for tackling some of society’s most important issues such as climate change, mineral extraction and energy generation. Geoscience topics such as plate tectonics, energy resources, natural hazards, fossils and the rock cycle form considerable parts of both primary and secondary school curricula across the UK, within science and geography. This networking event will be a brilliant opportunity for teachers from all STEM subjects to come together with our STEM Ambassadors to share best practice and explore ideas to increase awareness and understanding of geology in schools.
The session will include some STEM news items, a tour of the Geological Society’s library and geological map room, presentations from STEM Ambassadors and teachers, information on educational resources, and the chance to network and collaborate with colleagues from across STEM sectors. Light refreshments will be provided.
