This talk will describe the various issues associated with assessing the risk to groundwater from unconventional oil and gas development: sources of contamination, exposure pathways and risks, and introduce the work that BGS has been doing on developing a groundwater vulnerability assessment framework, as well as work on assessing the impacts of abandoned wells and monitoring work to better inform risk assessment and management.
