The annual University of Plymouth GeoCareers event is the largest fair of its kind in SW England and has a range of representatives from the extractive, engineering, environmental and related industries in attendance. Many of these companies regularly employ Plymouth Earth Science graduates.

For first and second year students, this an opportunity to find out more about career opportunities and there are  timetabled introductory careers lectures for your benefit. For final year students, some companies are actively recruiting and this is a PDP opportunity for you all.

Programme

1:30pm - 4:00pm - company exhibitors in RLB foyer area (confirmed list will be circulated separately)

5:30pm for 6:00pm start  - GeoCareers / SEI open public talk: “Big Data in the Geosciences: a primer for the new digital frontier” in RLB LT2 (see below)

This talk is given by industry representatives from Shell and Atkins and give insight into the latest earth science industry developments. The talks are often an indicator of future employment needs / trends. Students interested in an earth sciences career are encouraged to come along.
