Chalk underlies central London at depth and logging records are generally limited to borehole observations. Construction of tunnelling projects beneath central London involves the excavation of deep shafts with associated adits for tunnel boring machine launch and reception chambers, and connection tunnels. This presentation outlines logging methods used and key observations from the chalk exposures and presents brief correlations between sites and with regional Chalk stratigraphy.
