Raw Materials Empowering Sustainability: Mind the Gap - Mining and ESG?
Define ESG and understand what it means across the value chain. Examine key stakeholder roles, tensions and synergies between ESG factors, and costing models. Evaluate debates over mining, sustainability and responsibility.
Learning Objectives
- Define ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance)
- Explore what ESG looks like along the mining value chain, and understand recent trends
- Examine the role of different stakeholders, including mining companies, investors and policy-makers
- Analyse potential tensions and synergies between different ESG factors
- Critically evaluate debates over whether mining can be truly sustainable and/or responsible
- Understand and evaluate economic implications of ESG risks and implementation, including competing notions of how these should be costed

This session will be held as a lecture followed by a Q&A session with the speaker.

This is the 4th course in a 10 part series. Delegates can either register for courses individually or for the whole series at a discounted rate.
