Below are a number of external resouces that will be useful to authors writing papers for submission to GSL (and elsewhere). Some are aimed at authors whose first language is not English, but the advice could also be useful to all less-experienced authors.
The Royal Geographical Society and Institute of British Geographers have published a useful guide to writing, which will be of interest to geologists too.

Author Aid has resources aimed at researchers in developing countries. These could also be useful to other researchers. In particular, they publish a list of editing services.
The University of Manchester has a Phrasebank providing examples of some of the phraseological ‘nuts and bolts’ of writing.
