Endorsed Training Course: Geology of England

The geological history of England spans almost 700 million years of time and is renowned for its great diversity of rocks and landscapes. Come on an exciting journey that will encounter catastrophic volcanoes, long-lost oceans and rivers of ice.
Led by Dr Annette McGrath, the course provides a thorough introduction to the geology of England provided via:
- A series of PowerPoint presentations,
- A practical session to look at a large selection of rocks, minerals, fossils, thin sections and geological maps from across England. A large selection of rocks, minerals and fossils from around the world are also available for students to handle.
- The PowerPoint presentations work chronologically forward in time from the Precambrian through to the present day. Palaeogeographic maps and cross sections are presented for each time period, alongside relevant photos, diagrams and geological maps from across England.

Fees: £233 (residential accommodation and including all meals) or £167 (non-residential, but including all meals). If students also attend the ‘Geology of Scotland’ course that immediately follows this course (7-9th February 2018) they will save £25.
