Core logging techniques are always useful and important for engineering geologists to provide accurate engineering descriptions of soils and rocks in site investigation. These descriptions form one of the building blocks of ground models for engineering design decisions.

HKRG is organizing this introductory course to help young practicing geologists in the contractor industry and design consultants to enhance their techniques and knowledge on the core logging practice in Hong Kong.

This course will comprise two sessions, including introductory lectures at AECOM Asia Company Limited to review the common rock types in Hong Kong and their diagnostic characteristics and special features, and to discuss some key points in Geoguide 3 and examples of drillhole logs and photos; and 2-hour logging practice and discussion inside a ground investigation corebox depot provided by Fugro Geotechnical Services Limited.
