Are you interested in geology? Would you like to know how minerals and rocks have formed, as well as the secret world of fossils? If so, then the ‘Introduction to Rocks, Minerals and Fossils’ course at the Green Park Hotel is the one for you!
Led by Dr Annette McGrath, the course will provide you with a thorough introduction to rocks, minerals and fossils provided via:
- A series of PowerPoint presentations and discussions,
- A number of practical sessions to look at a large geological collection of museum-quality rocks, minerals and fossils from across the UK and around the world.
- Petrographic microscopes will also be on hand to enable students to examine the main rock groups in thin section.
- A large selection of geological maps from across the UK will also be available to view.
- A large selection of geological general interest books and textbooks will be available to read, from basic (GCSE) to more advanced (‘A’ level and undergraduate level), to suit all levels.

Timing: The course will run from the evening of Monday 26th February to the morning of Friday 2nd March 2018.
Fees: The cost of the Geology Break (residential accommodation and including all meals) is £422.00 per person. The Green Park Hotel is willing to offer a reduction of £25.00 per person for Fellows of the Geological Society.

Wheelchair access to the hotel is good, with graded approaches to the main reception, Garden Wing, and Tower Wing entrances. Both lifts are wheelchair friendly. Bedroom 61 on the ground floor of the Tower Wing is particularly well suited to wheelchair users with its specially modified bathroom.
