The Energy Group is pleased to announce bookings for this year’s very special Annual Awards Evening are now open.

This year, the Awards evening will take place in the inspiring surroundings of the Geological Society at Burlington House, London on

Thursday 20 October 2022, and promises to be one of the major social events in the energy industry calendar.

Programme

The evening will encompass;

6:30pm - 7:30pm: Drinks Reception upon arrival

7:30pm: Awards Presentation (including a presentation from a keynote speaker)

8:45pm: Canapés to be served

11:00pm: Finish

Keynote Address - Professor Chris Jackson 

Professor Christopher Jackson is a geoscientist at the engineering consultancy Jacobs and Visiting Professor in Basin Analysis at Imperial College. Having completed his BSc (1998) and PhD (2002) at the University of Manchester, Chris was employed as an research geologist in the Norsk Hydro (now Equinor), Bergen, Norway. Between 2004 and 2022, Chris pursued an academic career at Imperial College and the University of Manchester, where his research focused on using traditional fieldwork techniques and seismic reflection data to study the tectono-stratigraphic analysis of sedimentary basins. Chris now works at Jacobs, where he works on a range of geoenergy, geostorage, and geohazard problems. When not studying rocks, Chris gives geoscience lectures to the public and in schools, having appeared on several, Earth Science-focused, television productions and podcasts. Chris is actively engaged in efforts to improve equality, diversity, and inclusivity in Earth Science in particular, and Higher Education in general.
