Northern England and Scotland spearheaded the first Industrial Revolution through the energy provided by coal. In the 21st century, humankind faces the challenge of reducing our carbon emissions and managing the impacts of climate change. Can the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ lead the way in our transition to low carbon energy?

The Yorkshire Geological Society and Yorkshire Philosophical Society present a full-day programme of illustrated lectures by leading experts on new low carbon energy technologies and solutions for carbon capture.
