This conference is for anyone starting out in the field of hydrogeology, whether professionals, researchers or masters students, and anyone considering a career in hydrogeology. The conference will give you the opportunity to meet other early career hydrogeologists, and also to learn from those established in the industry.

About the conference

Symposium

Showcasing the many career pathways available to hydrogeologists, there will be speakers from various industries, poster presentations and an interactive group session.

10.30am: Registration and coffee

11.00am: Welcome, and morning session chaired by Bryony Osbourn with talks from:

  • Harriet Carlyle Sweco: Infrastructure Development
  • Nick Walters Mott MacDonald: Water Resources
  • Jo Birch Golder Associates: Mining

12.10pm: Lunch (provided) and poster sessions

1.30pm: Afternoon session with talks from:

  • Jenny Lightfoot Arup: Contaminated Land
  • Mark Lee Atkins: Engineering
  • Josephine Mcsherry University of Leeds: PhD and Academia
  • Jade Ward British Geological Survey, International Association of Hydrogeologists: Starting out as an Early Career Hydrogeologist

2.50pm: Coffee break

3.30pm: Workshop

4.30pm: Closing remarks by Bryony Osbourn

Attendees will receive a full programme via email in the week prior to the conference.

6.00pm: Drinks reception with buffet dinner provided at Water Lane Boathouse, Canal Wharf, Leeds, LS11 5PS

Call for posters

We’d like to encourage you to present your work in the mid-day poster session. Submit your poster (A0 Portrait) to [email protected], indicating title, authors and affiliations by 18th November.  Prizes will be awarded on the day. 

We’d like to showcase as much work as possible - these can be projects that you (or your company) have worked on, research projects, or even MSc or PhD thesis work that is currently underway.

CPD credit

The conference will provide one day's worth of CPD credit. Certificates will be provided for your records.

Registration and costs

Registration is £20 for IAH or Geological Society members, £30 for non-members and £10 for MSc Students.
